Thanks for your reaction! I expect this small airport, together with all the road building carried out by the provincial govt, to have some severe impacts on this Amazon area. At least in the field of the environment, deforestation rates will rise definetly. This will be a killer to the booming eco-tourism bussiness here, cause there will be nothing eco left here! About social unrest I'm not sure, the people here seem to be quite tranquil and somehow indifferent about it all.
Though much of the impact is unpredictable, cause it is not clear whether it will be a big international airport or just a strip of asphalt with some 3 flights landing per week... And off course much will depend on how the human activity in the area will be governed.
